Don’t Leave Your STUFF as a Legacy

Recently I went to a thrift store to do a donation drop off. I had only 3 things to donate – a Christmas ornament, a decor pillow and a cute little tin with paper & pen inside. I know it wasn’t much, but every little thing that I can get out of my house is a plus.

As I drove up to the drop off location, there was a vehicle in front of me. A gentleman was dropping off a LOT of stuff that had belonged to a relative. We chatted briefly, and I asked if it was OK if I watched and learned. It was OK with him.

It was interesting and enlightening as I observed what was going on and saw the items being transferred from his vehicle to the drop off bin. There were “like” items; you could see a pattern. “Bins” went, too. No saving of the bins for later. Interesting.

Takeaways:
– Do it now. Don’t leave your STUFF as a legacy for your family members.
– Create an environment now for your passing that will simplify, not complicate, things for your family and friends.
– Learn from what you SEE and HEAR. Proverbs 20:12
– Be realistic about how many “like” items you really need/want.
– Stop going to thrift stores to buy items to add to your hoard/collections.

Happy de-cluttering!
